This Is Also A Method Of Training Children

Maybe it was wrong for me to “make a deal” with God It’s just that I desperately wanted to be a mother. After two years of negative pregnancy tests and heart-wrenching disappointment, I hit an emotional breaking point. That night I dropped to my knees, broken, and completely poured my heart out to God.

“God, if you bless me with a child, I promise to raise that child to know you and love you!”

This was a loaded statement for me – the girl who wasn’t raised in the church and who was still so new in her own faith journey – to make.I did end up getting pregnant, not just once, but twice.

I seriously doubt my answered prayer had anything to do with the promise I made to God. Gifting me two amazing daughters was probably His plan all along. I just wasn’t being patient with His timing.

Promise or no promise, God commands us (parents) to teach our children to know Him and live by His word. It is our responsibility to provide a loving, nurturing, and God-fearing home environment with a day-to-day example of living a godly life.
