Plucking your nose hairs can be fatal – leading to a grisly death at the hands of meningitis or brain abscesses. It’s all to do with something called the ‘danger triangle’ – which you have been carrying about on your face all this time.
Speaking to Business insider, Dr. Erich Voigt of NYU said, ‘The hairs are actually helpful filters. maybe a problem when people trim those hairs too close or if they pluck them. ‘There are germs at the base of the hair follicles.
When the hair follicles are pulled out, the germs can jump in – and those infections can be lethal. ‘The veins that drain the blood to the from the nose, lead to the vein that drains the brain.
Germs can travel to the back and induce meningitis and abscesses.’ Such infections are, thankfully, rare – but think carefully next time you’re about to yank out a nose hair.
