The brilliance of HBO’s Watchmen is well and truly over.
Damon Lindelof’s critically-acclaimed sequel to Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’s groundbreaking DC Comics masterpiece concluded last month, with fans hoping for more from the former Lost writer.
At least as of now, there will be no more Watchmen. Lindelof has told USA Today that he is not interested in making a second season, though he has given HBO his “blessing” to make one without him.
HBO programming president Casey Bloys expressed doubts on pushing forward without the Watchmen showrunner, saying at the TCA press tour: “It’s really in Damon’s thinking about what he wants to do.
If there’s an idea that excited him about another season, another instalment, maybe like a Fargo, True Detective [anthology-type] take on it, or if he wants to do something different altogether.
