Meet Brook Eddy, an American woman in Colorado who fell for the flavours and aroma of the humble desi chai during a trip to India in 2002 and then went from selling tea from the back of her car by the name ‘Bhakti Chai’ to launching a $7 million brand.
In 2006, she started making a blend of different ingredients (exploring the flavour of desi Indian chai) and then started selling those flavoured teas in the back of her car. The single mother of twins, within a year, managed to earn
a repute that helped her open a website that further helped the brand reach a larger customer base. In the same year she quit her full-time job to concentrate on her business that got its first round of investment in 2008 and by this year the company’s projected revenue is $7 million.
