Hearst Castle is a must-see, and visitors can easily spend a day there touring this opulent home and gardens. A couple of nights should be spent in Big Sur exploring the area while based at some of the best luxury hotels on the west coast USA. The Ritz-Carlton is well located with superb views from its lofty Nob Hill location, or choose one of the luxury hotels around the shops of Union Square such as the cutting-edge Hotel Diva.
You can choose to end your road trip here with a few days exploring Fisherman’s Wharf, Alcatraz Island and the Golden Gate Bridge Park whilst enjoying one of these superb hotels.
Alternatively, head inland to the well known wine region of the Napa Valley for more great experiences and some more delightful luxury hotels such as the Calistoga Ranch or the Auberge du Soleil.
