Dear brother, undoubtedly, man is naturally disposed to care for his existence, and his safety, perfection and continuation. However, his life will be miserable if he keeps oblivious of the purpose of his existence. The deadly mistake of the people of the Hell-fire is their ignorance about the purpose of their existence Allah the Almighty says:
What is the next priority after man’s care for his existence? It is his care for seeking sustenance. Man is concerned about his sustenance, about his existence and about matters which are closely related to his existence; the safety, the perfection and the continuation of his existence.
Beside caring for his existence, man is very much concerned about his sustenance. There are many sayings, ideas and concepts about sustenance which have no base in Islam,
but rather they are derived from everyday life. In fact, the issue of seeking sustenance is one of the major foundations of Islam. The subject of our lecture today is:
how does sustenance increase? What are the basic Islamic principles regarding sustenance? What are the etiquettes of seeking sustenance?
