Walking is one of the important milestones in your baby’s life and most of the parents wait eagerly to see their child walking. But toddlers gross motor skills take their own time to develop. Before your baby will start walking, he/she will have to go through different stages.
First, there will be crawling, then scooting and at the final stage they will begin to walk on their own. From the time your baby starts to roll on its own to the time he/she starts running around the house, it usually takes 14 months. Some babies are fast and start walking in 9 months, while others take 14 months. But do not worry if your baby is talking time, it is completely normal.
The first stage is pushing up. At the time of their birth, newborns are not even able to support or hold their head, but with time they start to kick their legs and pull their body in the upward directions. At least 3 to 4 months after birth, the baby starts to develop head control and the ability to push up when they’re lying on their stomach. Pushing up is an important step toward developing the core and back strength.
The second stage of walking is rolling. Babies first start to roll from front to back. It takes at least a month for them to learn to roll from back to front. This is the time when you need to be extra careful. Do not leave your child unattended on the bed as there are high chances that they might fall.
