The sun was starving and attempting to fry every mobile individual on earth when I walked through the most anticipated day of my life. My vision of greatness was somewhat adjusted as I couldn’t help but admire the beauty of structures that watched me,
providing me the shade I needed to get away from the hot summer day. It was on this day when I realised people on magazine covers had beauty but campus girls had both beauty and life. It was my first day on campus.
A boy who grew up a goat-watcher and could tell time by the length of his shadow was finally out of his comfort zone. I walked with great anticipation the future brightens my day while I walked slowly towards it. “One two three, one two three”, I counted my footsteps up to three while staring at the shoes I wore for my matric-dance. An earthquake almost hit Cape Town when my feet trembled, they just couldn’t hold my body as confident as they did. Interview lessons taken; I took a deep breath and walked towards her with my mom’s lesson in mind. My mom always taught me to embrace life and this girl seemed to be life and a half, so I applied her teachings; “Kgarebjana, mahlo a gago a nkgopela gore ke go dumediše, gape o segametse! (Young lady, your eyes keep dragging me towards you… you’re very beautiful!)”
