In the confined space of an airplane, a young veiled woman sat quietly with a book in her lap. The rhythmic hum of the engines created an ambiance of solitude. However, her tranquility was soon disrupted as a fellow passenger leaned over and initiated a conversation.
Shall we engage in a conversation? I’ve heard that discussions like these can make long flights more bearable,” the man remarked.
The veiled woman looked up from her book, intrigued by the prospect of conversation, and responded, “Certainly, but what topic would you like to discuss?”
With a pensive expression, the man replied, “We could discuss why Islam places restrictions on women wearing the veil or why it doesn’t grant women the same inheritance rights as men.”
The young woman, her interest piqued, nodded and said, “Certainly, but before we delve into that, would you mind answering a question of mine?”
The man inquired, “Of course, what is it?”
With a faint smile, the veiled woman asked, “Cows, horses, and goats all eat the same grass, yet cows produce dung, horses produce manure, and goats produce milk. What’s the reason behind this?”
The man was momentarily taken aback and admitted, “I don’t know.”
The woman continued with a twinkle in her eye, “Do you understand that you’re well-versed in discussing Islamic principles, veils, inheritance, and what’s permissible or forbidden in Islam, yet you have no knowledge about the simple behaviors of animals?
The man found himself perplexed by her question and stammered, “I suppose so.”
The young woman nodded knowingly and remarked, “Isn’t it interesting that you consider yourself well-versed in God’s laws, veiling, inheritance, and what’s lawful or prohibited, yet you have no knowledge about the intricacies of the natural world?”
