Once upon a time, in a far-off kingdom, there lived a princess who was known for her beauty and wealth. She took great pride in her appearance and riches, and whenever a proposal of marriage arrived, she would mockingly dismiss it, often making jests about her suitors. However, fate had a peculiar twist in store for her, as her destiny was bound to take a surprising turn.
The Arrogant Princess
The princess, whose heart was as beautiful as her exterior, lived a life of arrogance and vanity. She held her head high and looked down upon everyone, including those who came seeking her hand in marriage. Her laughter echoed with condescension as she turned away each suitor.
One day, the king decided to assemble all the eligible suitors in the kingdom to choose the perfect match for his beloved daughter. As they gathered in the palace, the princess cast disdainful glances upon each of them. She couldn’t help but scoff when she saw a prince who was rather plump, and she found humor in the sight of a short suitor. However, her laughter would soon fade away.
A Peculiar Vow
When the princess finally approached a prince who had a majestic beard, she couldn’t help but giggle. His facial hair amused her greatly. Little did she know, this prince would be the one to change her life forever.
The king, witnessing his daughter’s disrespectful behavior towards the suitors, made an unexpected announcement. He declared that his daughter could marry anyone she pleased, but it would be a poor man she would wed. This decision startled everyone, and soon, the palace was empty as the nobles and suitors departed.
Some time later, a seemingly destitute wanderer arrived at the palace gates.
The Mysterious Wanderer
The wanderer positioned himself near a window, beneath the grandeur of the palace. He began to sing, his voice filling the air and capturing the attention of the king and princess. The king ordered a servant to bring the beggar inside. As he entered, the wanderer presented himself with grace and humility, earning the admiration of the king.
The king was pleased and decided to reward the wanderer for his beautiful song. He offered his daughter’s hand in marriage as a token of his gratitude. When the princess heard this, her heart sank. She realized that the man she had mocked would become her husband.
