The Clever Division of Chickens

Once upon a time, a Bedouin visited a city dweller’s home. The host decided to slaughter a chicken to serve as a meal for their guest. When the dining table was set, everyone gathered around. In the host’s household, there were a total of six people:

Two husbands,
Two sons,
And two daughters.
The host decided to make a jest and said, “Since you are our honored guest, you should be the one to divide the chicken.”

The Bedouin, with no experience in such matters, agreed, saying, “If you insist, I have no objection. Hand me the chicken, and I will divide it.”

Taking the chicken, the Bedouin first cut off its head and said, “In the house, the head of the family is the most important, just as the head of the chicken is. This part is for the husbands.”

Next, he cut off the tail end and explained, “The legs of the chicken resemble the sons. So, the legs are for the sons.”

Then, he removed both wings, saying, “The wings represent the daughters. They too are a pair. So, these wings are for the daughters.”

The host, bewildered, watched as only the chicken’s torso remained. The Bedouin smiled and said, “What’s left is the main body of the chicken, and you are the main body of the family. This part is for you and your wife.”
