Rabi ul Awwal – The blessed month our beloved prophet Muhammad(pbuh) entered this world has started. The birth of the Prophet (pbuh) was a mercy to the world and Allah chose this month to illuminate us with this mercy. The Prophet (pbuh) illuminated the world which continues to shine in our hearts. Rabi al Awwal is considered to be a significant month, a month of renewal. A time to renew your love for our beloved Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). It is an excellent time to form a habit to send salawat on Prophet (pbuh).

The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said:

“Whoever sends blessings upon me, Allah will send blessings upon him tenfold.”
(Sahih Muslim)

So how do we send salawat on Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)? Here’s a few recommended short and long versions.

Here are a few recommended versions. You can start withshorter ones and gradually to learn the longer ones.

  • Allāhumma ṣalli ʿalayhi
    Meaning : O Allah, send prayers upon him
  • Allāhumma ṣalli ʿalā Sayyidinā Muḥammad
    Meaning : O Allah, send prayers upon Our Master Muhammad
  • Allāhumma ṣalli ʿalā Sayyidinā Muḥammadin wa ʿalā ālihi wa sallim
    Meaning : O Allah, send prayers and peace upon Our Master Muhammad and upon his Family.
  • Allāhumma ṣalli ʿalā Sayyidinā Muḥammadin wa ʿalā ālihi wa ṣaḥbihi wa sallim
    Meaning : O Allah, send prayers and peace upon Muhammad and upon his Family and Companions.
  • Allahumma SalliI Ala Muhammadiw Wa Ala Aali Muhammadin Kamaa Sal’laita Ala Ibrahima Wa Ala Aali Ibrahima Inna’ka Hamidum Majid. Allahumma Baarik Ala Muhammadiw Wa Ala Aali Muhammadin Kamaa Baarakta Ala Ibrahima Wa Ala Aali Ibrahima Inna’ka Hamidum Majid.
