Nurses & Doctors are our army, started my career as Nursing Intern then gradually getting promotion, currently I am a Nurse Manager demonstrate my leadership quality at each level, started as Emergency Nurse Intern, seen multiple disaster and crises such as bomb blast attack on Benazir Bhutto in Karachi then assassination of her in 2007 when most of cities burn hundreds of peoples got shot down of blind bullets, city crises every day minimum 10-12 gunshots have to handle per shift.

Analysis of Nursing Career and Motivation

At first disaster I work under senior nurses no doubt they were best in their nursing care in which I learnt a lot and also pointed some loop hole, when I lead my team at time of Benazir assassination country locked down for 3 days, gun shot, tortured patients we received every alternate minute was a rush call, it started in evening so management and administration of the hospital left for home, we knew nobody come to help or provide additional support to us, we knew that we have to continue till the situation handle.

As a Team Leader I assigned motivated Nurses to receive the patient and refer them to resus or front area, Doctors and Senior Nurses for evaluate, cannulation, wound wash etc. etc.

Technician, Nurse Aid support them to provide equipment’s, medicine, surgical supplies, and inform other teams.

I was facing staffing issues, handling a disaster with routine shift staff it was difficult but we make it all together, limited Nurses, Porter and other staff, I decide to use housekeeping staff to transport patients, 3 patients move together with bed move by housekeeping staff, 1 Nurse, 1 Technician, and 1 Intern Doctor to help and move them to Operation Theater and return back to their assign area as fast as they can run, we shift medical and other routine emergencies patient into clinical area, which was closed in last evening and I have assign weak, those staff which I felt may demotivate my champs.

Most of the time most of us was crying, carrying with tears in eyes we never saw this kind ever in our life never even seen in any Hollywood movie, we were self-motivated peoples were our own, no hunger no thirst just one feel, “Mercy ALLAH” “Mercy ALLAH” help them and help us.

Evening and Night was a horror day of our life, but today I feel Covid-19 again need the same strength to help our peoples, as a Nurse Manager my Administrative skill are good, by the grace of ALLAH during all these years I never stop my clinical practices, still if I found a difficult cannulation, I do for my staff, not to nail patient.

Today I read some of the nurses, refuse to work in Covid-19 Patient area just because of fear, yes in my nursing career I have seen some of them accept they become nurses just for handsome salaries and to move from Pakistan to European countries, visas for nurses are easy to get.

Chitral Earthquake and Flood Relief
If I was demotivated at that time then I wouldn’t be at this position where I am right now. I have served the community of mountaineers and severe climatic environment which I have never been and this was my second time to serve the nation when there is a call for help from remote areas of Upper Chitral Khyber Pakhtoon Khuwan, Pakistan.

My suggestion as a Leader you know your force, spare those who you think are weak and demotivate others in the battle, I am sure if 1 get down, another standup to replace the position and you can continue to fight back.

Corona I am ready! To serve my community and country, no fear we defeat you with our unity.
